The Aslan Signal Engine is a professional-grade Smart Money Concepts (SMC) / ICT-style Price Action indicator built for traders who want to understand and follow institutional activity. Rather than relying on indicators like RSI or MACD, this toolkit focuses entirely on price structure, liquidity, and supply/demand imbalances — the same concepts used by institutional traders. Every feature works together as a unified system, and understanding how they interact is what separates profitable use from random signal-chasing.

Market Structure

Market structure is the backbone of SMC analysis — it tells you the overall direction of the market by tracking the sequence of swing highs and lows. Without understanding market structure, every other tool loses much of its context.
What it shows:
- BOS (Break of Structure) — occurs when price breaks beyond the previous swing high (bullish BOS) or swing low (bearish BOS) in the direction of the existing trend, confirming continuation
- MSS (Market Structure Shift) — occurs when price breaks in the opposite direction of the current trend, signaling a potential reversal and the beginning of a new leg
- BOS+ / MSS+ — the same signals but detected at the larger, external swing level, representing higher-significance structural events
- HH, HL, LH, LL labels — automatically plotted at each swing point to visually map out the market structure sequence of Higher Highs, Higher Lows, Lower Highs, and Lower Lows
- Equal Highs (EQH) and Equal Lows (EQL) — dotted lines connecting swing points that are at nearly identical price levels, highlighting liquidity pools that the market is likely to target
How to use it:
- The Structure Type filter lets you choose between Internal structure (shorter-term swings useful for entries), External structure (major swings useful for overall bias), or All to see both simultaneously
- Adjust the Swing Point Period to make the detection more sensitive (lower values) or more selective (higher values) — lower timeframe traders typically use smaller periods while swing traders prefer larger ones
- The Equal High/Low Threshold setting controls how close two swing points need to be to qualify as equal — a smaller threshold means only near-identical levels are flagged
- An MSS is the highest-priority reversal signal the indicator produces — treat it as a potential trend change and begin looking for counter-trend setups rather than continuing to trade the prior direction
- A BOS confirms that the current trend is intact and gives you permission to continue trading in that direction, particularly on pullbacks to OBs or FVGs
Pro tip: The most powerful setups occur when an internal MSS is followed by confirmation from an external BOS in the same new direction. This sequence tells you that the reversal is genuine and has enough momentum to potentially shift the larger structure.
Displacement Candles
Displacement candles are abnormally large, high-momentum candles that signal a strong shift in market sentiment — often the candle that creates a Fair Value Gap.
What it shows:
- Highlighted candles (color change) when a displacement occurs
- Works on both bullish and bearish displacement
How to use it:
- Set Displacement Type to measure either the candle body or the full candle including wicks
- Displacement Strength (0–3) controls how aggressive the filter is — higher = rarer, stronger signals
- Enable Structure Filter to only show displacement candles that occur near a BOS or MSS event — this dramatically improves signal quality
- A displacement candle followed by a pullback into the FVG it created is one of the cleanest entry setups in SMC trading
Market Structure Background Color
A subtle background color that reflects the current market bias.
- Green background — Bullish structure (BOS to the upside has occurred)
- Purple background — Bearish structure (BOS to the downside has occurred)
Enable/disable with the Show Market Structure Bg Color toggle. Useful for quick at-a-glance trend direction, Its great for filtering the trend following signals from the Aslan Signal Engine.
